The Tension Mounts

As the sun shines and the buds spring forth, everywhere throughout the United Kingdom, County Cricket fans are emerging from their cocoons to greet the start of the new County Cricket Season. Not for these people the 'Bish Bash' of 20/20 or one day cricket. No, this is the stuff for purists - stuff that lasts for 4 days per game .. ah the bliss of it .. the slow pace, the sound of leather on willow and often rain on the wicket resulting in lengthy stays in the tea room watching the clouds in anticipation - and they call football 'The Beautiful Game' !!!

At the time of writing, Notts are on their pre season tour of South Africa and after several victories, they were finally defeated by an academy side .. is this the sign of things to come ? Could this be Mick (satorial elegance)'s first serious mistake in charge .. allowing the 'boys' the luxury of a trip to warmer climes. Previous seasons success have been built on pre season matches being played in grim British weather against gritty club sides .. hardening them for the slog ahead. Worries are now that Mark Ealham could return with an even larger waistline and more worryingly, that Graeme Swann will return with his hair even more bleached and with a wider range of impressions to irritate Mick and the rest of the boys.

Anyway .. to help with the anticipation, here's a pic below of the excitement at the recent AGM.

I hope you all wintered well.
