MCC v Notts - 15th April 2006

Not the first headline I'd hoped to see regarding Notts this year - "Notts Toil" .... Oh well it is only a friendly I suppose but one which you would expect Notts to at least attempt to win.

After a reasonable start Notts bowler, playing today for the MCC as a replacement for Chris Broad of Leicestershire, Mark Footit took the first wicket of the season .... that of his Notts Captain Jason Gallian. This seemed to signal the collapse with Russell Warren going out on a duck after six balls. Veteran Darren Bicknell top scored for Notts with 36 and only really Paul Franks doing anything else credible, ending up on 30 not out.

It isn't looking good for Notts who are tipped by many to retain the County Championship this year and would be the first team to do so since the 2 division structure was put into place.

What will tomorrow bring ... it seems unlikely that Notts can recover from this poor first innings.
